UMW Purpose ... The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
From September through May, the Asbury unit of United Methodist Women meets regularly. The yearly schedule includes General Meetings in January, March, May, October and December (time varies). The Unit is made up of four circles. Three circles meet on the third Wednesday: Rebekah Circle at 9:30 a.m.; Hannah Circle at 1:30 p.m.; and Priscilla Circle at 5:00 p.m. (usually with a potluck dinner). The newest circle, Lydia meets on the fourth Thursday at 7:00 p.m. There are also special summer events. See the church calendar for up-to-date information.
Asbury UMW offers various fund-raising events throughout the year, such as book sales, soup lunch, and bake sales. In February UMW offered a "Chocolate Fare," an all-chocolate extravaganza in recognition of Valentine's Day. Proceeds from fund-raisers supplement members' donations to support mission work nationally, internationally, and locally.
